Future Successors Community

When I started my self-improvement journey(it took me a lot actually to even get up from my bed), I struggled to find a platform that resonated with me and offered the support I needed. There were countless websites and apps, but none provided the sense of community and personal connection I craved. That’s why I decided to start this newsletter - to create a space where you can freely seek support and connect with like-minded individuals. You can reach out to me anytime, and I’ll do my best to provide the guidance and encouragement you need.

I have already mentioned before that I got ielts almost a year ago and iI got the highest score in listening:7.5. And as requested from one my readers i decided to give some tips and advices to boost your ielts listening score. I have searched for my old textbooks and books, and felt so nostalgic from them.

Advice 1 Practise+Analyze

Practice was always important, the more you practise, the more you get used to the listening structure plus you will start automatically create your own strategies which suit yourself. After practicing you have to analyze your mistakes. And by analyzing I don't mean to just look at your mistakes. Literally analyze, why you made this mistake,re-listen if you need to and check the audio scripts. Also if you want to get used to the listening of different accents,it is good to start watching TV programs in English. There are many sites for that.

Advice 2 Distractions & Traps

Don't get confused by all the different voices you are going to hear the recording uses different accents-Australian,British,American and etc. And most of the time they gonna use 2 traps:

  1. Unexpected turn. You might hear speaker starting to say one thing and then suddenly, continuing to something completely different.
  2. Generalizations. You might hear speaker first give a list of things and then say them all in one word. For example: Well I like to swim, hike and camp-to be involved in outdoor activities. And if the question is "What kind of activities?" the correct answer is "outdoor" not "swimming or hiking or etc.

Advice 3 Eliminate

When you deal with multiple-choice questions, elimination is a good strategy. Usually one answer is correct unless the instructions says otherwise. So pay attention to instructions, they will keep you safe in every listening type questions.Anyway, this is task (multiple choice) is similar to true/false/not given. You should decided for every choice of answer is it true, false or not given.

Advice 4 Type of questions

Learn every type of listening question. Every one of them. If my memory serves, there are about 10 types of questions. For every type of question, there are specific strategies,on the internet.

Advice 5 Resources

Speaking of internet, learn and practice from the right resources-the official page of ielts,Cambridge books and one of my favorite Is ielts advantage. Here is the full guide with strategies from it:
